The Modern Management of Risk


This short course looks at what managers should know about modern safety, what questions they should ask to be properly informed, and what actions they should expect from advisers, subordinates, and systems.

Aims

Participants should:

  • Understand the modern concepts of safety
  • Understand the changed management role in controlling safety
  • Have a working knowledge of how to manage systems, people, and event, within the context of up to date risk management principles

    Learning Outcomes

    On completing this course participants should be able to:

  • Request and receive a meaningful hazard identification and risk assessment
  • Be able to identify the corporate behaviours that can block safety initiatives
  • Be able to instruct systems and subordinates in what they require to make meaningful decisions
  • Conduct communication sessions on risk matters with small groups of people
