This short course looks at what managers should know about modern safety, what questions they should ask to be properly informed, and what actions they should expect from advisers, subordinates, and systems.
Aims
Participants should:
Understand the modern concepts of safety
Understand the changed management role in controlling safety
Have a working knowledge of how to manage systems, people, and event, within the context of up to date risk management principles

Request and receive a meaningful hazard identification and risk assessment
Be able to identify the corporate behaviours that can block safety initiatives
Be able to instruct systems and subordinates in what they require to make meaningful decisions
